Tune in to Sola 5 Radio
I’m a frequent listener of Covenant Radio. I’ve mentioned previously that they have launched a new venture, Sola 5 Radio. I’ve not tuned in much as streaming internet radio station doesn’t fit well with my lifestyle; however, for many it would. Regrettably, it appears that those who would be able to take advantage of this have not noticed the launch of Sola 5 Radio or haven’t bothered to tune in yet.
From all accounts this venture appears to be a unique and beneficial offering to the Body of Christ. However, if there is not a significant increase in listeners it will be closing down. Todd Pedlar writes:
If we don’t get substantially more listeners than we have now, we’re going to have to pull the plug. Bill has just started seminary full time, and I, as a college professor, really don’t have much time at all to devote to this project – though I have put in some and would love to continue, if it seems worthwhile. At this point, with only a couple listeners online apart from Bill and me, both of us are fairly well convinced that it’s not.

Read the Westminster Standards in 40 Days
Joe Holland has organised a group of people online to read through the Westminster Standards in 40 days. His reading plan began yesterday / today (depending on your timezone) but it isn’t too late to start. I’ll be beginning today.
The Westminster Standards include the Westminster Confession of Faith (WCF), the Westminster Larger Catechism (WLC) and the Westminster Shorter Catechism (WSC).
You may also be blessed listening to Dr. Wayne Spear give five lectures on the history of the Westminster Assembly that I posted here last year.

God's Immovable Line
I just listened to an encouraging sermon by David Murray entitled God’s Immovable Line from Romans 10:3-4. What may be of interest to some of you is that he has also uploaded his pulpit notes. Personally, I’ve found following a preacher’s pulpit notes while listening to him preach is a beneficial homiletical exercise.

Introducing Sola5 Radio – Reformed Programming
I just read this from Todd Pedlar:
Covenant Radio is planning to set up a live streamed 24/7 Reformed internet radio station, entitled Sola5 Radio. Bill Hill, with whom I co-host CR’s weekly programs, is taking charge of this venture, and we are pleased to announce the startup testing this week. At first, programming will be played from roughly 7am EST to 3 or 4pm EST. During the week of November 23, the plan is to go from 6am to 5pm EST. Monday the 23rd’s planned schedule is:
All times Eastern 6-8 AM: Bible Reading and Music
8-9 AM: Old Testament Study: The Book of Genesis by Dr. Joel Beeke
9-11 AM: Music
11-12 Noon: Systematic Theology Lectures: Reformed Theology 101 by Greg Cumbee
12-1 PM: Music
1-2 PM: New Testament Study: Book of Romans by Dr. Alan Cairns
2-3 PM: Music
3-4 PM: Church History Lectures: History of the Reformation by Dr. Joe Morecraft

Our Utter Inability to Reach Heaven
The human heart is deceitful above all else. If you ask the average person on the street they’ll likely tell you they’re on their way to Heaven. Below is an excerpt from a terrific sermon in a series on Heaven by Ted Donnelly where he succinctly responds to such a belief:
There’s an almost universal idea that we can deserve Heaven. That’s what people think. It’s right for them to go to Heaven. They’re worthy of going to Heaven. That’s what all other religions are based on. That is the hope of the man or woman on the street. My friends, one glimpse of Heaven; one millisecond of Heaven; would render any such notion absolutely preposterous. If we could see for a fraction of a second, the glory of Heaven, we would realise our utter incapacity, and unworthiness, and inability, of ever reaching or being present in that place. Sooner could a worm aspire to be a brain surgeon, than a sinner, hope to work their own passage to glory.
May we never lose sight of the glory of Heaven and the inexpressible grace of God in securing the way for sinners to be redeemed!

Covenant Radio – Third Anniversary
Congratulations to William Hill and Todd Pedlar for reaching the third anniversary milestone for their podcast, Covenant Radio!
I praise God for the content and the subsequent edification their podcast has provided to my wife and me, and to the many other listeners whom have made their appreciation known through comments and blog posts. I sincerely look forward to seeing what the Lord does with their program as they enter their fourth year.

Communicating with Post Moderns
I was referred to two lectures today delivered by Ted Donnelly earlier this year at the Trinity Baptist Pastors’ Conference. I’ve just listened to both lectures consecutively and have been immensely blessed. Donnelly’s two lectures were entitled Communicating with Post Moderns and provide both a helpful survey of postmodern thinking as well as practical exhortation as to how the church should respond. He not only warns against ignoring the culture we live in all together whilst at the same time he confronts the subtle compromises he sees within the church and the blatant error of those in the emergent church movement.
One of my favourite lines from his lectures was when he said:
“We reach people because we’re different from them…because when they come in there’s a sense of awe, and reverence, and the transcendence of God, and holy fear.”
